Neurobiology of CRM

Comprehensive Resource Model® London

Conventional understanding of the neurobiology of the traumatised brain is that trauma is lodged in the limbic system. And within the limbic system it is the Amygdala that plays a crucial role in activating trauma responses, which are send through the nervous system into the rest of the body.

CRM’s neurobiological understanding starts from a very different position, a position based on the work of Frank Corrigan. Corrigan, postulates that trauma responses and trauma healing both happen in the same brain area. This is the mid brain area. CRM therefore focuses on activating the part in the mid brain that is responsible for feeling safe and nurtured.
